Camping at Devonport Discovery Holiday Park — on the edge of Bass Strait

My most memorable night camping on my Brisbane to Tasmania road trip was spent in the Devonport Discovery Holiday Park. The holiday park is situated on the edge of Bass Strait at the mouth of the Mersey River at Devonport. I arrived at the Devonport Discovery Holiday Park after office hours. The park management are obviously used to people arriving after office hours off the Spirit of Tasmania ferry — my booking information and site location was placed … more »

Narrabri Highway Tourist Village & Caravan Park review

I stayed at the Narrabri Highway Tourist Village & Caravan Park on the night of 19 December 2010. I was driving from Brisbane to Melbourne via the Newell Highway. I thought it was a little ironic the people with $200,000+ caravans … more »

I took the family camping at Borumba Deer Park on the weekend. Following are a few comments on our experience, and some photos of the park and local attractions. Borumba Deer Park staff Once we had checked in, we had little to do with the staff. The few times we did encounter them, they were generally pleasant and easy to deal with, except our situation on arrival – see below. Arrival at Borumba Deer Park … more »

Camping at Boreen Point

Boreen Point at Lake Cootharaba is an ideal camping ground for families and sailors. Sailors have long frequented the lake because it receives ocean breezes, but has flat water. The Boreen Point camping ground is great for families becuase of its quiet location and shallow lake. Our kids wandered 100 metres off shore and were still only waist deep! Just avoid the camp ground in busy periods, such as Easter. It gets jam-packed … more »
