Wabi Cycles Special — review and photos

My Wabi Special after a ride

I recently purchased a Wabi Special fixed gear/singlespeed bicycle from Richard Snook at Wabi Cycles. Following are my initial thoughts on the bike. Which bike? I had read good things about Wabi Cycles on the internet, and also the owner Richard Snook. I have not been disappointed. Wabi Cycles offers several bicycles, including the Lightening SE, Special and Classic. While I was tempted by the Wabi Lightening SE, if I was purchasing amore »

We were passing by Charlie Moreland camping area on the way to Kenilworth via the Kenilworth–Maleny Road. I was surprised at the number of BlackWolf tents being used at the time that we visited the camping area — see photos here. Ballina Headlands Leisure Park review

Ballina Headlands Leisure Park

We had a lovely time at Ballina. Here is the run-down on the excellent caravan park that we stayed in — the Ballina Headlands Leisure Park: Sites large sites for vans and tents fresh driveways and concrete slabs for vans TV cables next to van sites inside of cabins looked excellent — think the ones that I saw inside must have been recently refurbished. Dicky Beach Holiday Park review and photos

Dicky Beach at sunset, with the remains of the SS Dicky shipwreck in the background

We recently camped at Dicky Beach Holiday Park on the Sunshine Coast. The holiday park had a full size tennis court, children’s playground, modern amenities blocks and well set up camp kitchens. The park was adjacent shops and Dicky Beach. I booked a camp site only three days before arriving, and in the last week of school holidays. Dicky Beach Holiday Park was the only park with a camp site vacancy that Imore »

BlackWolf Turbo Plus 240 — with awning front and side panels

BlackWolf Turbo Plus 240 tent with the front (door open) and side panels fitted

The optional front and side panels for the new BlackWolf Turbo Plus 240 tent gives a very handy vestibule area under the new, larger, three-pole awning. We used it to shelter from the wind and sun, and also to store gear out of sight of prying eyes while we were away from the camp site. I was recently given the opportunity to test the new model 2012/2013 BlackWolf Turbo Plus 240 tent. Our first tripmore »

Coleman comfort sling chair review and photos

Coleman comfort sling chair

My Coleman comfort sling chair is always the first one people sit on at the camp site. I often have to kick my kids, wife and other camp site visitors off the Coleman chair because it is always the one that people seem to find most comfortable. I purchased my Coleman comfort sling chair for around $70 from Down Under Camping and have taken it on several camping trips in recent months. Coleman comfort sling chair is actuallymore »

Oztent King Goanna chair review and photos

Oztent King Goanna Chair

Various camping magazines rave about the Oztent King Goanna Chair but, quite frankly, I find the chair uncomfortable. For its premium price, I expect quality and comfort. According to the Oztent web site, the King Goanna chair is their most popular and the most comfortable chair on the market. The high back chair has a fully padded seat and adjustable lumbar support. The bag is also able to be rolled up and inserted in themore »
