Ballina Headlands Leisure Park review

Ballina Headlands Leisure Park

We had a lovely time at Ballina. Here is the run-down on the excellent caravan park that we stayed in — the Ballina Headlands Leisure Park: Sites large sites for vans and tents fresh driveways and concrete slabs for vans TV cables next to van sites inside of cabins looked excellent — think the ones that I saw inside must have been recently refurbished. Service people were extremely helpful. Facilities good kiddies playground largemore »

Dicky Beach Holiday Park review and photos

Dicky Beach at sunset, with the remains of the SS Dicky shipwreck in the background

We recently camped at Dicky Beach Holiday Park on the Sunshine Coast. The holiday park had a full size tennis court, children’s playground, modern amenities blocks and well set up camp kitchens. The park was adjacent shops and Dicky Beach. I booked a camp site only three days before arriving, and in the last week of school holidays. Dicky Beach Holiday Park was the only park with a camp site vacancy that Imore »

BIG4 Kingaroy Holiday Park review

BIG4 Kingaroy Holiday Park

We recently stayed at the BIG4 Kingaroy Holiday Park.  The description on their website is not as we saw it. BIG4 Kingaroy Holiday Park caravan sites The tiny office/”shop” was not air conditioned and was very hot when we visited.  People had to wait quite a while to check-in because they had only one girl on duty and she seemed to take ages to process new arrivals. We were not given a slab atmore »

Lake Ainsworth Holiday Park at Lennox Head camping review

We recently spent an enjoyable four days camping at Lake Ainsworth Holiday Park at Lennox Head in Northern New South Wales. The park featured a new amenities block, friendly staff and a great location next to Lake Ainsworth and Seven Mile Beach. The Lake Ainsworth Holiday Park is a Big 4 Holiday Park, as well as being a North Coast Holiday Park. The holiday park is large and features unpowered tent sites, powered tent sites, poweredmore »

Straddie Holiday Parks review & photos — Adder Rock, Cylinder Beach and Amity Point

We recently camped at Adder Rock Holiday Park on Stradbroke Island — or Straddie as the locals call it. While we were on Straddie, we took the opportunity to visit two other Straddie Holiday Parks, Cylinder Beach Holiday Park and Amity Point Holiday Park. We were camping in winter, so mosquitoes were not a problem. But being a sand island, mossies can be a problem on Straddie. My eight year old daughter also picked upmore »

Surviving a wild and windy night in my BlackWolf Turbo Plus 300 tent

We recently stayed at Adder Rock Holiday Park on Stradbroke Island — or Straddie as the locals like to call it. We pitched our BlackWolf Turbo Plus 300 tent on the foreshore facing the Pacific Ocean, and survived a wild and windy night. The first night we spent at Adder Rock Holiday Park was fairly windy. We contemplated moving camp site, but my wife was adamant that she wanted to be right on the beachmore »

Pottsville North Holiday Park camping trip — review and photos

We recently spent a couple of very enjoyable nights at the Pottsville North Holiday Park. This is a great family spot to stay with a swimming pool and children’s play equipment, but look elsewhere if you want an absolute beach front camp site. We chose the Pottsville North Holiday Park over the Pottsville South Holiday Park because the park has children’s play equipment and a pool. The Pottsville South Holiday Park should still be considered ifmore »
