Narrabri Highway Tourist Village & Caravan Park review

I stayed at the Narrabri Highway Tourist Village & Caravan Park on the night of 19 December 2010. I was driving from Brisbane to Melbourne via the Newell Highway. I had decided to take it easy and do the trip in three days, spending my first night at Narrabri. I had booked ahead of my trip and the reception was warm and friendly. The Narrabri Highway Tourist Village & Caravan Park was well maintained with green lawnsmore »

Fuji Absolute 3.0 further comments

After my initial impressions of the Fuji flat Bar road bike and replacing the pedals, I have the following comments: Shimano Sora gear shifters – I am sure more expensive shifters would be better, but this is my first time using indexed gears and I love them. Kenda tyres – no punctures in the Kenda tyres and wearing well. I am planning to replace them with 700 x 25c Vittoria Rubino Pros whenmore »

Fuji Absolute 3.0 flat bar road bike initial impressions

I have recently purchased a Fuji flat bar road bike – an Absolute 3.0 to be precise. I raced road bikes in my teens, but have not ridden a bicycle in 20 years. My search for a new set of wheels began by considering a mountain bike. A bicycle that is fairly comfortable for my old bones, but is robust and can handle a bit of mistreatment. I started off at Boggo Road Bikemore »

Black Wolf Turbo Plus 300 tent purchase

I purchased a BlackWolf Turbo Plus 300 today from Down Under Camping at the Caravanning Queensland 2010 Pre-Christmas Caravan & Camping Sale. On our last camping trip I performed the tent set-up in a stiff 20-knot breeze coming straight down the Noosa River to our camp site at the Noosa River Caravan Park. Erecting our 10-person Jackaroo dome tent proved to be a problem in the wind. I had to erect a wind breakmore »

Best 4×4 for camping — Toyota Prado or Hilux?

I am in the market for a new car. The car will primarily be used around town for business and the school/childcare run. However, we are planning to buy a four wheel drive for the few times a year we plan to go beach camping or head bush. Our preference is to buy a Toyota. Many farmers tend to use Toyotas, so if we break down out bush, at least we know parts will bemore »

Handy camping kitchen bench

Our Lifetime 4’ bi-fold, height-adjustable table is a handy piece of camping kit. It can be used as a standing height bench, standard height table, a low table for the kids or as a side table while sitting down. Sturdy camping tables that allow food preparation and washing up at a suitable height for standing up are hard to come by. Most of the benches marketed as camp kitchens are only 80 cmmore »

DMH stainless steel mug

Our DMH Outdoors stainless steel mugs appear to have excellent insulation properties, as discovered on a recent camping trip. We only took the bare essentials on the camping trip. This included a gas cooker that mounted directly to the top of the gas bottle, as well as a moka pot to brew our morning coffee. While we had brought the moka coffee pot, I had not thought to pack the kettle for boilingmore »
